Pointe Claire is a sleepy area on the island in Montreal known as"the West Island. Many people don't know the meaning of the word and believe it's an independent Island to the west of Montreal. In fact, West Island is actually a whole island. West Island includes the entire part of the island from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there in fact, it's true. However, she only stayed for a short time. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice in the city of Oshawa, Ontario. She had a dream to become dancing at first but because of an explosive growth rate, she surpassed all her dancing partners. According to an article from The Toronto Star, she confessed, "In heels I am 6 feet 1 inches." As I grew older than my male friends then I slowed down. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement of a drama teacher at her high school which led her to pursue the career path she wanted. It was her teacher who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. The teacher advised her to audition for a character in the school's annual production. It was her turn to be cast as Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the twenty years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions that have screened on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed her role as Rita in the award-winning show, The Handmaid's Tale
